About
John Alexander is an artist and filmmaker based in Los Angeles, CA. Working across photography, cinema, sound, and installation, his recent projects explore the poetics and politics of infrastructure, landscape, and disaster. He holds an MFA in Photography and Media from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), an MA in Asian Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA in Anthropology from Reed College.
John was a Fulbright Fellow in China from 2008–2009. In 2015, he received the Felix Gonzalez-Torres Travel Grant to support the production of his film, Water Dwells in the Lowly Places. In 2016–2017, he was a visiting artist at the University of Cologne, Germany.
