Water Dwells in the Lowly Places
2016, HD video, color, 5.1 surround sound, 27:57 minutes
Water Dwells in the Lowly Places is an experimental documentary portrait of China's Three Gorges Dam. Currently the world's largest dam and hydroelectric power station, Three Gorges Dam created a massive reservoir stretching over 400 miles along the Yangtze River. The dam project led to the disruption of an entire ecosystem, the forced displacement of over a million people, and the demolition and reconstruction of cities, towns, and villages throughout the reservoir area. Water Dwells in the Lowly Places traces this vastly altered geography through a visual and sonic exploration of the landscape along the reservoir's edge.
